Yor’sahj the Unsleeping – 10 man normal

Introduction: Yor’sahj never got to eat Fruity Pebbles as a young little faceless one.  He will take out his angst ridden rage by summoning the very essence of these delicious pebbles of crunchy fruit in the forms of ooze that eagerly slide their way to be nommed up.

Difficulty: 1.5/5; This boss is really fun and once you realize the kill order for oozes and have an idea of what they do he will die pretty quick.

Setup/Positioning Diagram:

The boss can be tanked and killed exactly where he stands.  DPS will go to assigned ooze immediately upon their summoning.

Overview:

This is technically a single phase fight.  When pulled, the boss will begin using his only direct damage ability when not under the influence of colored oozes, Void Bolt.  In 10m, Void Bolt is healable even with the stacking DoT, so a single tank is fine.  The boss will also melee the tank around every 2 to 3 seconds.

Before pulling, the raid should familiarize themselves with the ooze positioning on the outskirts of the room. They are all color coded to match their respective ooze that will come out.  Once the fight begins Yor’sahj will summon 3 oozes about every 75 seconds.  Each ooze has a specific ability tied to it that when absorbed by the boss will give him a new power.

Dealing with oozes: The raid needs to kill one ooze at which point the other two become immune to damage.  Killing this targeted ooze is number one priority as if the oozes get too close together they will start to heal and the boss will absorb all three.  Unless you have a green ooze come through or have to kill and stand by a mana void, all raiders should remain stacked on the boss after the ooze dies.

Once you get through the ooze abilities, it is just rinse and repeat.

Ooze Abilities and Priorities:

Purple: Just fucks everything, do not let this go through.  If you heal more than 5 times it will do 50k damage to the raid, and another 50k for each heal after that.

Green: The boss begins to cast Digestive Acid.  This nature damage spell will occasionally hit a raid member for 60k along with anyone within 4 yards.  Spread out!

Yellow: The boss will gain Glowing Blood of Shu’ma which will cause the boss to attack 50% faster and use his Void Bolt twice as much.  The tank should have a CD if a yellow comes through or call for a healer CD. The void bolt will also damage the whole raid (just a single blast, no DoT).  Clump up for AoE heals.

Black: The boss will spawn a number of Forgotten One adds.  These adds will fixate random players and use an ability called Psychic Slice.  This will deal shadow damage in the amount of 35,00 per attack.  Group up and AoE them down and AoE heal.

Red: The boss will cast searing blood, a chain-lightning style spell that will damage more that farther people are from the boss.  Clump up on the boss and it is trivial.

Blue: The boss will create a Mana void which will drain the entire mana pool from all casters.  It will only do this once so you can begin regen after this occurs.  All DPS should target this mana void.  When the mana void is killed all casters should be within 30 yards of its demise to gain their mana pool back.

Tips:

  • Heroism should be used whenever there is the greatest amount of free time on boss before he casts oozes.
  • Resistance Aura, Shadow Protection, Elemental Resist Totem, and Aspect of the Wild are all useful in this fight.

  • Kill priorityPurple Green Yellow
  • Tank: Watch for the Void Bolt stacking DoT, and be ready to use or call for a CD if Yellow ooze is absorbed.
  • DPS: Stack on boss unless green ooze is absorbed.  Always get on assigned ooze, mana void, and forgotten one adds, then boss.
  • Heals: Lots of AoE healing this fight, yellow ooze will be high tank damage.  Be prepared if a blue ooze gets to him to stand by a mana void and to regen.
